CurrenSy – Hollywood or Humble?
This segment of Hollywood or Humble focuses on Young Currensy (Curren$y), who I met for the 1st time in New Orleans during the 2008 All Star game, prior to his worldwide recognition. I had already interviewed him via phone for a NOLA edition of OZONE Magazine, and when we hit town to promote he happily met me at the hotel to get his magazines and snap some pics – two hours late of course. He had come across as cool during our initial conversation, but he won over my journalistic heart during our face to face meeting. (No funny business!) Definitely shorter than I expected, Spitta still had a huge personality and came across as someone I would have hung with during my high school days of prowling skate parks for boys.
The first day we met, and every time I’ve ran across Spitta since, he tried to get me high. It hasn’t happened yet. At some point we were supposed to go on a movie date, it hasn’t happened yet either. Not sure if we’ll ever get around to it as my work life doesn’t allow for smoking joints and lounging with rappers, I just like to do my job and come home in time to watch re-runs of Cheaters. I’m not sure if his jet has cable.
But anyone would be lucky to hang with this guy. He’ll make you laugh. He’ll make you think. He’ll make you enjoy life a little more. Lil Andretti might blow into town and forget to return some phone calls here & there, but it’s only because he’s high, not Hollywood.
